I read Mosiah 6 quite a while ago, but didn't have the chance to write anything about it.  I re-read it again tonight, along with chapter 7. The last verse of chapter 7 hit me years ago, when I realized the bondage to which the Lord is referring is not only physical bondage, but easily can refer to addictions, beliefs, people, choices, anyt...

I've been reading a few books and websites lately on the "geography of the Book of Mormon", and see that it is quite a contentious point for many people!  A desire to understand the BOM geography was the specific thing that got me into reading the Boook of Mormon for the first time on my own.  That isn't to say that my testimony...

I just got done reading the book "A Man Named Dave", after reading "The Lost Boy", and 6 years ago, "A Child Called It". Ya know...  To a certain extent, I enjoy doing things from time to time, to keep myself grounded.  To keep myself living in a reality close to what is real for everyone else.  I do t...

It seems to me like this chapter has a very deep meaning, but I couldn't quite get it this time. The whole chapter is about making covenants, and becoming a child of Christ. It's interesting that after verses 2, 3, and 4, the last word on verse 4 is "joy".  After they had heard the word of God, had their hearts changed through ...

With the new design of ILMJ, I thought it fitting for people to be able to add their own static links on their blogs...  Doing so is very easy. A "page" in your blog is simply an entry which stays in the left-hand column on both your main blog site, and each individual entry, as is illustrated below: So, as you can see,...

Hi there!  I'm PoeticIntensity I guess this is my journal...  still. I started journaling when I was 14, in 1990, as a new years resolution.  I had no idea then just how much I would get into journaling. It took me 12 years, off and on, to transcode all of my 3000+ journal entries, and then put them into a database.  I ...

SO I've always wannted to go to Rcks ( BYU IDAHO) well two more years and I'm so there. I got my PA to help me find info about it, today I had a pack from the collage come in the mail. I was so exited! The best part it, Sara is also planning on going that same time I am! That would be the best thing to ever happen to me.  I mean Sara is my ...

I wrote this the otherday. It's not really what I write a lot of, so I ain't too sure about it. Let me know what you think please.   I'm gonna let my hair fall down, Sit and watch the rain Come around. Each drop is a beautiful sound... Shut my eyes so My heart can see, All that your love dose to me. Take my heart and ...

Today I needed to sync a file on two servers using ssh, and I needed to do it automatically.  I knew that ssh could use key-pairs to enable a secure authentication system without requiring passwords, but I couldn't remember how to do it.  I googled a bit and found this gem of a tutorial on how to do precisely what I needed:  I'll pos...

One sore spot of AdvancedBudgetStudios was the very, very cheap preamps we've been using.   Well, after much searching, digging, late nights, and crawling through the Internet on my hands and knees, I came upon the deal of a lifetime.  Yup..  I found a brand-spankin' new "Focusrite Octopre Platinum" which we will be ad...

The new lamp for my projector arrived today and much rejoicing was heard among the land. Since our lamp burned out 5-8 months ago, we've been using a TV to entertain our kids, providing them with movies and TV cartoons and all the other goodness with which MythTV blesses our lives. With the return of our lamp, I wanted a way to extend the life ...

I don't even know where to start.  Let's start at the beginning... So, 10 years ago, I got a hair-brained idea to buy a keyboard and start writing and recording music.  Seven years ago I thought it'd be a good idea to get a mic kit for my drums to learn how to record drums better.  Three years ago the studio had its first paying c...

This morning, I ended up with a new toy in my hands and as luck would have it, I also had a couple of hours to mess with it. The device is a Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF webcam. I've always had a little interest in videography (nothing compared to my interest in audio, however), and from time-to-time I've tried to get various webcams to work in L...

WOW, feels like forever since I last came in here to write. My comp crashed and just now got back up. For now....  I am really glad that I've been able to talk to Christine, she's a really great girl!  I signed up for a website she sent me. I'm going to try and find her LOL I had a lot to write, but just don't feel much like doing it a...

I was wandering around the net to shake off the daily grind, when I came upon this site . The poem made me think, and thinking is a pretty good thing.  So, in response to his poem, I wrote the poem "To Write".  I was suprised at how fast it came, and pretty freely, too.  Anyway... It's always a treat to find good poetry....

Okay... So with the latest update to xorg-server (I think it was 6.5), xdm stopped loading XFCE4 and I couldn't get it to load anything but TWM. Here was the problem: Somehow, an important file got removed.  The file is this one: /etc/env.d/90xsession The contents of the file is simply: XSESSION="Xfce4" With that...

Today, I woke up at 6:00am, after getting a maximum of 4 hours of sleep (and it would only be 4 hours if I wasn't woken up in the middle of the night multiple times, which I was, so it was actually less) I prayed before I went to bed that I would be able to survive the day and get everything done that needed doing. Anyway, I woke up at 6,...

Well, yesterday the studio received a new addition.  We're now employing a much more powerful and dynamic 8-channel Octopre preamp!  This will allow us to record much more dynamic sources.  The initial impression I get from this new device is that it, of course, is much, much more powerful.  It also seems to record with a bit mo...

So, it's been awhile since I last wrote about the scriptures, but the fight to the end continues!  I'm in Las Vegas right now for a conference, and what better way to start my day in sin city than to read the holy words of God? 4th Nephi has always been an amazing chapter to me.  I would like to capture in my mind's eye, the way p...

When new clients come into the studio, I never quite know what to expect.  Tonight, I met a wonderfully talented young lady named Christie Berube, and proceeded to be wowed by a wonderful song she had written, called "Daddy's Little Soldier". While working through this song, I was almost moved to tears again and again while we fle...

Most normal people would be exhausted right about now, but I guess when ya love what ya do, doing more of it is just invigorating.  So, yesterday evening we were at it again with The Blue Aces, recording the last single, which is sure to be a hit, of their first demo!  The song is called Dance With Me.  Now it's on to the mixing and ...

I just thought I'd jot down an experience which may be of some benefit to others, even if only to provide a few laughs. About 3 years ago, I built my brother a computer and he was just as sick of Microsoft as I was, so I told him about Linux.  He wanted it, so I installed gentoo on his box for him.   I updated it probably 2 or 3 ti...

Scramjet, a valued client of Advanced Budget Studios (and an amazing band, as well), has recently arrived in the top-ten list of a contest put on by X-96.  Please support them by clicking here and voting for them and their awesome song, "Tread Softly". Thanks, and thank you, Scramjet!  You guys are awesome!  ...

This time through Mosiah 3, I had a few interruptions, so I wasn't able to concentrate as much as I would have liked, but family really does come first, so, ya gotta do what ya gotta do... Anyway..  Mosiah 3, to me, this time rang loudly of what the Atonement of Jesus Christ is all about.  It speaks of who needs the Atonement, who is c...

So... I don't even know where to begin. Honestly, my life is so full right now, I feel as though I might decide to curl up into a remote corner of the world somewhere and hide for a few months. That said, each day I seem to manage to get up with a renewed strength to attack the day's duties with a renewed vigor.  Even though it's cl...

The opening talk by President Monson was inspiring.  I love how he talked about his wife, the stories of them meeting, and the fact that her parents were converted to the Gospel by his grandfather's brother.  (I'm amazed he knew that, by looking at his photo!)... Also..  When Pte. Monson said that the presidency loves all those of t...

I totally forgot to blog about this, but my band, TODAY, is opening for the Salt Lake City Real Soccer game!  We start playing at 5:00pm! See you there! Click here for more info.  www.mimicrocks.com...

Well...  Our pumpkins this year were just so darned cute, I had to blog about em' - I mean, after all, this is my journal! So, without further ado, here are a few photos of the 2007 Jones Family Halloween Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza! ...
