I was recently reading this article about yet another virus which affects Microsoft.  In reading it, some of the comments below stated such things like, "The patch was already released, so just run your auto-updater and be done with it!".  Seems logical, right? Yeah... Actually, it does.  The exact same mechanism exists ...

Just thought I'd let you all know something that isn't readily apparent from googling - at least it wasn't for me. For two channels, I had program data which was approximately 1.5 hours off.  This did me absolutely no good when it came to recording shows from mythtv. I'm using MythTV .21 I came across a mailing list thread which had the ...

In chatting with my friend Steve, I realized I haven't yet given any details as to my trip to Green Bay this week, so, before this weekend comes, I figured I had better write something. Day 3 (Wednesday) went pretty smooth.  I woke up with a high level of sleep deficiency (surprise, surprise), and went out to the office for the last time.&n...

I spent pretty much all of yesterday trying in vain to write a soap client to connect to a web service provided by our new partner in Green Bay, WI. After about 6 solid hours of getting the same error, a great programmer and acquaintence of mine, Jared Smith gave me a quick tip on how to fix it. Before I get to the fix, let me say that first, I...

So the other night my ward had the first temple trip of the year. I was unable to hide the fact that I so badly wanted to go! I needed the peaceful easy feeling that only the temple can give, but I was also very worried at teh same time. Because the last temple trip my ward went on the youth did not behave themselves like they should've and they go...

today was pretty boring and i am really tired and really sick of all the school work that we have to do most of it is pointless....

Well..  Today wasn't as bad as I thought.  The only thing that really got to me was this lack of sleep.  I woked up at 6:30 this morning, and by 2:00pm, this afternoon, I was dead. I won't bore you with details, but today was filled with food, and loads of technical information.  I've really got to get to sleep now, so I'm go...

So today i got lucky. Recently i got a letter in the mail and it said that I have been late to first period too many times and it said for every additional tardy I would have to server 30 minutes of morning enrichment which is just another name for detention. My mom woke me up after i wouldnt wake up for my alarm clock and then after that i we...

Okay, so Jason left yesterday afternoon for a trip to Green Bay.  I have been gearing up for this for a few weeks.  Preparing  myself to be without my beloved for a few days.  I figured this is no big deal, I can get through this no problem.  Well, it looks like the kids had a different idea about that for me.  I t...

Gadgets, shiny and most often expensive little doodads that kick people in the face with their awesomeness and cause strife between angsty teenagers and their "just squeaking by" parents. For some people the latest release of a gadget means improved response, better software, and more functionality. For others it's simply a way to say &qu...

Okay...  So three days ago (that would be Saturday morning), I found that my server was having weird problems.  I was getting an I/O error when I tried to start a movie for my daughter.  Yeah, that can't be good.  I'd seen that problem before when LVM got out of sync somehow (after about 6 months of uptime), and decided to reboo...

How in the world do you do what Alma and Amulek did in verse 2?  Honestly, I don't know.  Also, another perspective is - how in the world do you take what Alma and Amulek just said?  It'd have to be something like, "Yeah, we were just in Ammonihah, after you guys were thrown out, and we had to endure watching the kings and pries...

Man.... I'm tired, but I felt I had to read and write about a scripture today. Alma does a great job of answering his son's question.  "Why should sinners be punished?"  All sorts of nuggets of truth can be found in this chapter. Another great chapter on the justice and mercy of God is found in Alma 34. That's about it for...

I just got done watching Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" video... Man, that guy is amazing. Anyway...  Tonight I thought it'd be a good idea to do some drum covers of my favorite songs.  So, here's the first one, "Rock and Roll Band" by Boston. Give it a listen and don't forget to rate and comment if ya like it!...

So I made a mistake recently. A mistake that I knew at the time I shouldn’t make, but did anyway in the interests of “friendship”. The mistake was entering into a purchase “arrangement” for a car that I owned outright ( and didn’t have much use for) with a co-worker who is/was down on his luck. You’d think ...

Just in case you haven't heard the latest about Tiny Boats' debut album release, a good friend of the studio, Matt Mylroie, a music producer in Florida, had these good words to say about The Broken Vessels. A portion is quoted below, where the full review can be found here. "This album is hard to describe, but it is a fantastic blend of ...

Okay.  I've used various verses from this chapter to prove that we had agency in the pre-earth life, but now I'm questioning myself.  Here's the basis: Verse 3 says this: And this is the manner after which they were ordained—being acalled and bprepared from the cfoundation of the world according to the dforeknowledge of God, on ...

Okay... I forgot that Alma had 63 chapters. This chapter has always just kind of made me raise an eyebrow while reading it.  I must say, I felt the Spirit while reading it, and I know it's true, but I wonder why it was written. Why did Mormon dedicate half a chapter to people "going northward"?  And what about the ships?&nbs...

No punch line or long post here, it's freaking nasty. I'm not kidding....

So, last weekend I had the pleasure of recording a few tunes for an upcoming independent film (more details to follow as the project continues, I'm sure), and in these situations, I just never know what to expect. In this case, I don't think I could have been more blessed.  I had the pleasure of meeting Kraig Jacobson, and recording an...

I believe that Sherem is the first "villain" of the Book of Mormon after Laman and Lemuel, who could be considered an "anti-christ".  Not 100% sure, but I don't remember anything standing out in 1st or 2nd Nephi.  This guy reminds me of Nehor, Korihor, and Amalickiah. Some points of interest this time around are: ...

So, last week, a client came in who presented a song to me, and we proceeded to record it.  It quickly became a favorite of mine, and I've since decided to produce it up beyond what it was originally, with the permission of the owner, of course.  The song is an acoustic version of Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue", and I really,...

Last week, PoeticIntensity decided to join us again, with an interesting concept.  He had spent the previous evening playing some chords, and decided to make a song out of it that evening.  So we spent an hour coming up with the concept, and another 2 hours tracking it.  We then spent a few more minutes mixing it down until it sounde...

Interesting that the council invites the entire Nephite people in the land of Nephi to join in the discussion about how they should free themselves.  I wonder why they make a point to note that. Also, it's very cool that Mosiah received them with joy, although I can't find any reason that they should have done otherwise. This seems like a ...

Today, I woke up to about 6-10 inches of fresh powdery snow all over the place.   It's actually beginning to feel like Christmas time, now! Now, most normal people would say within themselves, "Man, I hate snow on the roads.", but not me. I'm not entirely sure why I'm this way, but it's been this way ever since I can remem...

Okay... So, I've been reading quite a bit about cats lately (in blogs of others) and looking at all the freaking / crazy / awesome cat pics people have out there..  I just have to add my two cents. I grew up with cats.  I love cats.  I pretty much love everything about em', except when they wake me up by their incessant meowing outs...

Ya know when you have one of those days where something is just off?  Well..  Today started out that way, but that all changed when I decided to crack open a couple of my energy drinks. Now, I'm no proponent to something addictive and potentially dangerous, but I'm a believer also that everything has its place.  I mean... Morphine ...

Sometimes I read the scriptures because doing so fills me with the Spirit.  Today was one of those times.  I need the spirit tonight. This chapter is loaded with details on the Sacrament and serving the Sacrament in congregations. Favorite verse was 32, "Nevertheless, ye shall not cast him out of your synagogues, or your places ...

I feel very connected with this talk.  He speaks of the importance of remembering those special experiences we have with the Spirit which enrich our testimonies.  Some of the quotes I love from this talk are as follows: Our personal journey through life provides us with many special experiences that become building blocks of faith and t...
