So... The studio has been missing an essential piece of hardware, which, in past recordings, we've wished we had.  Well, that problem has now been remedied.  After much hum-hawwing about what should be done to get our hands on a good figure 8 microhpone, we found the CAD Trion 7000. The microphone is precisely what we needed. Afte...

Man.... I'm tired, but I felt I had to read and write about a scripture today. Alma does a great job of answering his son's question.  "Why should sinners be punished?"  All sorts of nuggets of truth can be found in this chapter. Another great chapter on the justice and mercy of God is found in Alma 34. That's about it for...

I had to post this.  We went to a ward halloween party and I went as a punk rocker (of sorts), and Sarah went as Cinderella.  Gotta love the result. Awwww yeah!...

Why on earth would I spend $109.00 on a new operating system when I could buy a friggin'  1.5 TERABYTE HARD DRIVE FOR THE SAME PRICE!?!?!?  (and that's the cheap version of Windows 7 - you know, the one you'll regret buying even if you do buy in to all this Microsoft crap.  The version that'll make you regret purchasing Windows the l...

Yesterday, we received a new shipment. Aren't they pretty?  Our new KRK RP-8 G2 Monitors not only look great, but they sound completely awesome. The instant I put the project at hand through them, it was instantly obvious what needed to be done to enhance the sound - and that is what good monitors are supposed to do. Can't wait to use...

My first question comes from the first verse.  "Why would anyone be 'worried' about the law of restoration?"  Well...  Let's take it from the potential perspective of someone in Corianton's situation.  I guess if I had sinned with a harlot while I was on my mission, I might be a bit worried that the whole "what ye...

We've been recording a bunch of drum-takes to be added to otherwise "ready-to-go" songs lately here.  The latest of which happened to be a genre I particularly don't like much - country. But, the music sounded so good for this particular song, I decided to have at it anyway - and 4 hours later, we came up with the final result. I...

So, over at homerecording.com, we have quite a few discussions about, well, pretty much anything that has to do with recording audio.  One of the dicussions we recently engaged in had to do with critiquing a member's song he was working on. Of course, there were the usual suggestions on what this person should do, whether it be "bring ...

Just thought I'd let ya all know that I did something yesterday that I haven't done in years, if I've ever done it before at all.. Turns out I had band practice for two bands on the same night.  So, beginning at 4:30, and lasting until 11:30, I was at band practice. I don't think I've ever played the drums for 7 hours straight.  My ha...

At Advanced Budget Studios, we certainly can take an idea and create a masterpiece from nothing, but what if you've already got a great recording, but you just need that certain something to make it really stand out?  In the case of the G and M Project, they already a great recording of their song, Heartbreaker, but it wasn't quite where they ...

Last week, PoeticIntensity decided to join us again, with an interesting concept.  He had spent the previous evening playing some chords, and decided to make a song out of it that evening.  So we spent an hour coming up with the concept, and another 2 hours tracking it.  We then spent a few more minutes mixing it down until it sounde...

Yup.. Today was my first day at the new job. Now, if anyone has gone through a lot of jobs with the honest intent of keeping every one he had, it's me. I've just had the luck of getting "let go" because of downsizing or whatever. Anyway... Usually, the first day on the job entails signing a bunch of paperwork and settling in. Today was anything but...

I noticed in this chapter that even though many threatenings were made to the king of the land of Jershon (most likely an Ammonite), he didn't seem to care at all.  His concentration was on the many poor people of the Zoramites who were coming to his city. Eventually, I believe this action was the tipping point for the wars forthcoming throu...

Awhile back, almost every gentoo / gnome computer I built would do this wonderful thing called "auto-mounting" all devices plugged in via USB. Well, I really didn't know what or how this was done until it started not doing it any more. So, I went over to my brother's house armed with a determination to figure this stuff out, and I'll ...

You dont have to hide or pretend who you reallly are around me ill expect you. Not your past or what other people say can change my mind. Ill be there through thick and thin all the way until the end. if your sad than im sad to. If your mad im mad to. if you say we arent friends or anything more ill understand. But ill be there with open hands....

While Elder Scott was talking about the justice of the Father, I couldn't help but remember a very simple conversation I had with a childhood friend named Jared Peck. He was talking about scenarios of people hurting the ones he loved, and how he would get back at them.  I sat and made the required remarks such as, "oh", and "y...

I've gotta say, October was crazy.  It was the busiest month the studio has ever seen.  That said, it has allowed us to upgrade some microphones! Might you join with me in welcoming our two newest microphones to the pack: The Joly Edition - "Gomez" Cascade ribbon mic! In our initial tests, I found the Gomez to be anothe...

Name that tune... :) Man... I'm having a hard time thinking of what to write about. (as you can tell from my last post) Hmm..... Ya know... something I think I'm missing in my blog is the fact that I'm going to be a father (again) any day now. Sarah is due on February 10th and it's getting to the point where Collin Ryan Jones could join our...

The studio has been busy as ever, and some improvements are coming down the pipeline, but before we get to that, let me say that I had the privilege of working with another wonderful young lady last week. Kaelynn Allred's new song, "Back To Love" is about as cute as they come.  Tying sweet themes from nursery rhymes into a smile-in...

Okay, people.... I'm here at Truenorth Academy and I just can't shake the feeling of anxiety I have of leaving this place. I'm gonna start my new job at Nature's Way, which by all intents and purposes, should be the job I have for the rest of my life. It pays fantastic, the people seem wonderful.... It's just that the people here at Truenorth ar...

So, with the new G+ hangout update, all of my Chrome extensions quit working ("My Hangouts", "Hangout Canopy", etc...), and I was wondering how in the heck to find hangouts to meet new people... Well, it's actually very easy. Within G+, search for #hangoutpost Then, in the drop-down right-side of the submenu, click &...

The first thing that stood out to me this time around was the anger of Lamoni's father.  Try to place yourself in the situation Lamoni found himself in.  There are so many variables in the situation, it's hard to imagine exactly what was going on with the family undercurrents, but holy cow.  Lamoni's father drew his freaking sword an...

Ya know...  I really wasn't planning on writing anything today, but ah, what the hey.  It's 5:30 and I'm not going to be doing anything else within the next 20 minutes. So, lately I've been pondering this whole "ILoveMyJournal.com" thing I've created, and where I should take it.  So far, there aren't that many users, but ...

All the other times I've read this chapter, it's been mostly about the whole baptism thing.  Now, I don't discredit the sermon given about Christ being baptised, and the necessity for our being baptized to make it to heaven... ...But this time, something else struck me. Ya know...  I love having chats with people about the Gospel.&nbs...

Man...  When I started reading this one,  I forgot it was about the Anti-Nephi-Lehi's who sacrificed themselves for the word of God.  Wow. Along with the previous chapter, I find it interesting that the main source of contention among all the Lamanites are the people who were once Nephites themselves.  The Amalekites and the A...

So...  I thought I'd be going to bed, but here I am. When the Spirit directed me to come down and write down my testimony, I wasn't (and still am not) quite sure what to write.  This certainly isn't due to a lack of testimony comparative to other times I've done this, but rather quite the exact opposite.  It is because my tes...

We recently had the pleasure of working with The Blue Aces again, and as expected, they were stellar.  This time around, however, they recorded an acoustic song which really contrasts the versatility in their song-writing.  The song is called "One Of The Heart" and should be available soon. Lookin' forward to doing more work w...

Below is a photo of how my little studio looks right now... Despite the fact that it's now nothing more than a bedroom, with piles of acoustic pucks and other audio paraphernalia scattered about, I've gotta say - "I'm over it." In 3 days, I'll say goodbye to this place, and begin anticipating the construction of our new abode, as w...

Man... I'm just tired.  Today was weird..  So... Studying chapter 5 right now, I'm brought to another realization that even the families of Prophets aren't perfect (hello, Lehi was a prophet, and he managed to have Laman and Lemuel...) The specifics to which I refer is Sariah's murmuring, and reaction when she saw her 4 boys return fr...

I find it interesting the way they referred to Nehor in verse 1:  a man "after the order of the man that slew Gideon by the sword, who was executed according to the law".  Why didn't they just say "Nehor"?  Especially seeing that writing in plates was so hard. In verse 10, Mormon notes the intent with which Aml...
