Temple Worthiness
PoeticIntensity

Continuing in the tradition of weekly fasting, church this week was very enlightening.  Sarah and I decided to go to a new "marriage and family" class instead of the usual gospel doctrine lesson, and I'm quite glad we made that decision. Lately, temple worthiness hasn't meant much to me.  There's more to that story, but that's...

A couple of days ago, I wrote a post about failure and innovation.  I had just seen the movie "Meet The Robinson's" which is a movie all about creativity, failures, leaving the past behind you, and always looking forward. Well...  Orson Jones gave a pretty incredible link in the 1 comment in that post. The comment containe...

Is Linux Really More Secure?
PoeticIntensity

I've been using Linux now for long enough to have heard just about all the facts, opinions, babblings, and flame-wars about Linux security vs. Microsoft security. *sigh* It seems that every time I try to explain to people the added security inherent to Linux, they have all sorts of explanations why my explanations are bogus.  Some of my ...

I saw a good movie the other day.  It's called "Meet The Robinsons". If you haven't seen it yet, and you like movies which actually have a moral (kind of tough to find now-a-days), I'd highly recommend it. A specific part of the movie caught my attention and is the cause for this entry.  The part basically consists of a li...

Steve Ballmer At His Best
PoeticIntensity

About a month ago, I came upon this video, which you simply must watch.  It's basically a re-make of videos previously posted about a pretty animated Steve Ballmer (Microsoft's CEO) put to music, and hacked up beautifully. At the time I watched it, I didn't think much of it.  It was funny, and it was Steve Ballmer.  Hooray. But...

Hehe....  I was looking at this site yesterday while I was browsing around my new RSS feed stuff.  I didn't get past game number 4. I've never been one to spend a lot of time playing online flash-based games, but I have to admit, Desktop Tower Defense is pretty darned amazing.  Amazingly addictive, I mean. What do you get when you mix a couple of black lights, a fog machine, a strobe light, a dark hallway, and a couple of demented minds with Halloween?  I'll tell ya what you get: A whole lot of scared teen-agers. WOOOO HOOO!!! With the debut happening just last year, there hasn't been a whole lot of time for refinement, but all things cons...

Laws vs. Common Decency

I just got done following this story and it's got me thinking about some of the problems we have in today's society. I'm not quite as empassioned about this as I thought I would be, but rather, I find myself thinking about the problems caused by people's thoughtless actions. Is it wrong to voice your opinion about your disgust at the military...

Renaldo Lapuz - Remixes!

I was gonna read something spiritual tonight, but I got sidetracked by American Idol. I started surfing around and before long, I came upon this video which, to me, is both absolutely amazing and freaking hilarious at the same time. I had no idea (although I'm not surprised) that so many people were doing remixes of his song "We Are Brot...

Well...  The video says it all, but for those of you who don't want to watch it, here's the low-down.  So, last weekend I had the pleasure of recording a few tunes for an upcoming independent film (more details to follow as the project continues, I'm sure), and in these situations, I just never know what to expect. In this case, I don't think I could have been more blessed.  I had the pleasure of meeting Kraig Jacobson, and recording an...

My Mustang GT has gas. (85 octane, that is)

Since I purchased my 2007 Mustang GT in January of 2007, I've been putting 85 Octane gas in it. I didn't notice any pings, nor anything else to make me think I was putting the wrong gas in it. Well, my dad was in it two days ago and asked me what gas I was using. When I told him, he couldn't believe I would do such a thing. Well.... In my defe...

Okay...  I've decided I'm going to get a little more serious about recording music.  I've had quite a few positive comments made about my recordings from 3rd parties, and over the years, I've enjoyed recording it more and more. So now, I'm here with approximately $200.00 to spend, and I think I'm going to get some overhead mics fo...

Jarom, for some reason, didn't seem all that inspired to me, this time around. The only thing which caused me to question was verse 2. To me, it seems that Jarom didn't want to write "much" for two reasons:  1. Because the plates are small, and 2.  They are being written for the benefit of the Lamanites. I guess I can u...

I noticed in this chapter that even though many threatenings were made to the king of the land of Jershon (most likely an Ammonite), he didn't seem to care at all.  His concentration was on the many poor people of the Zoramites who were coming to his city. Eventually, I believe this action was the tipping point for the wars forthcoming throu...

We just got back from a wonderful dinner at The Old Fisherman's Grotto on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey California. The halibut was quite wonderful, but not nearly as good as the side-dish of clam chowder I got.  It really was fantastic. If you're ever in Monterey, CA, you simply have to get a bowl of that chowder.  It's quite amazing....

A full band of 7 people was playing on a stage and was sounding quite wonderful, actually.&...

It's not too often you read stories about a business who knowingly chooses gentoo as their Linux distribution of choice;  this is why I liked this story so much.
