Thoughts on HtF
So, the Christmas season is officially here, and I'm feeling more Christmas Spirt than I ever have in my life - by a long shot.
I attribute this to two things... First and foremost, attitude, and making good choices. To me, Christmas is a spiritual season because it's filled with love, good will, charity, friends, and family. If I'm making poor choices, I'm gonna feel bad inside, and my ability to feel love is constrained. So, yeah.. This season, I'm doing my best to consciously make better choices and have a better attitude. That's making a great impact this season.
The other factor is this little duo-band called Herod the Fink.
When Jesse and I began this year's endeavor to create an album, I was in it for the experience and enjoyment of creating music. I really had no anticipation of being able to sell CDs, nor go on a "tour". In fact, I had no idea where it would lead, if anywhere.
Well... I have been completely amazed at where it has gone so far. Turns out that this year's efforts seem to be appreciated by a lot of people. The tour and CD sales are both exceeding any previous expectation I had. We've sold so many this season, that we needed to put in another order of CDs, and the little local tour we're doing is completely blowing me away. I feel so humbled by the response.
We did shows last weekend on Friday night and Saturday night, and both shows were awesome. Friday night, we were at Ryan Taylor's place, and though the attendees were sparse, the feeling during the show was great. We were showered with gratitude after the show, and we sold a few CDs, too.
Saturday was of the same greatness, and I was truly humbled by the effort put in to making the show extraordinary. These "Cottage Concerts" we're doing rely entirely upon the efforts of our hosts, and Saturday's show amazed me. Tiffany Beveridge, Jesse's sister, organized the whole thing, and I've gotta say, it was such a good experience. The home and decor was stunning, the food was delicious, the guests were enthusiastic, and the enviornment was as darned-near perfect as I could imagine it being.
The show was the best we've done to date, and it'll be a hard one to top. The response was truly humbling.
Thank you, everyone, who is supporting this creative effort. The whole thing really has been a dream come true for me, and it's making this Christmas season exceptional.
