At the beginning of this year, one of the things I wanted to accomplish by next year was to write enough songs to create an album. So far I have 3 songs I reallly like, and one which I think should be destroyed by fire. Not too shabby, considering it's only the beginning of February.
When I was 26, 1 day after I had broken up with my fiancee of 10 months, I decided to go out and buy a keyboard. The next 6 months was spent writing all sorts of cathartic music. It definitely helped me heal, and the music was okay, but this time around writing music I don't want it to reflect any slobbery emotions.
My goal for this album is to write music that's fun to listen to. Not necessarily "fun" in nature, but enjoyable. To write, I start with a cool rhythm, or bass line, or something else which catches my ear, and then roll with it and basically let it develop itself.
With
No Way Out, it started as a bass-line and then developed into what you hear now.
Also, something new is that this is the first song I've recorded with the studio's acoustic treatment! I think it sounds 100% better.
Let me know what you think!
