Continuing in the tradition of weekly fasting, church this week was very enlightening.  Sarah and I decided to go to a new "marriage and family" class instead of the usual gospel doctrine lesson, and I'm quite glad we made that decision. Lately, temple worthiness hasn't meant much to me.  There's more to that story, but that's...

A couple of days ago, I wrote a post about failure and innovation.  I had just seen the movie "Meet The Robinson's" which is a movie all about creativity, failures, leaving the past behind you, and always looking forward. Well...  Orson Jones gave a pretty incredible link in the 1 comment in that post. The comment containe...

I've been using Linux now for long enough to have heard just about all the facts, opinions, babblings, and flame-wars about Linux security vs. Microsoft security. *sigh* It seems that every time I try to explain to people the added security inherent to Linux, they have all sorts of explanations why my explanations are bogus.  Some of my ...

I saw a good movie the other day.  It's called "Meet The Robinsons". If you haven't seen it yet, and you like movies which actually have a moral (kind of tough to find now-a-days), I'd highly recommend it. A specific part of the movie caught my attention and is the cause for this entry.  The part basically consists of a li...

About a month ago, I came upon this video, which you simply must watch.  It's basically a re-make of videos previously posted about a pretty animated Steve Ballmer (Microsoft's CEO) put to music, and hacked up beautifully. At the time I watched it, I didn't think much of it.  It was funny, and it was Steve Ballmer.  Hooray. But...

Hehe....  I was looking at this site yesterday while I was browsing around my new RSS feed stuff.  I didn't get past game number 4. I've never been one to spend a lot of time playing online flash-based games, but I have to admit, Desktop Tower Defense is pretty darned amazing.  Amazingly addictive, I mean. If you have a couple ...

What do you get when you mix a couple of black lights, a fog machine, a strobe light, a dark hallway, and a couple of demented minds with Halloween?  I'll tell ya what you get: A whole lot of scared teen-agers. WOOOO HOOO!!! With the debut happening just last year, there hasn't been a whole lot of time for refinement, but all things cons...

I just got done following this story and it's got me thinking about some of the problems we have in today's society. I'm not quite as empassioned about this as I thought I would be, but rather, I find myself thinking about the problems caused by people's thoughtless actions. Is it wrong to voice your opinion about your disgust at the military...

Today, I woke up to about 6-10 inches of fresh powdery snow all over the place.   It's actually beginning to feel like Christmas time, now! Now, most normal people would say within themselves, "Man, I hate snow on the roads.", but not me. I'm not entirely sure why I'm this way, but it's been this way ever since I can remem...

So... I apologize for not having kept up-to-date with what's recently been going on, but I honestly haven't had the time!  If I have to choose between recording music, or writing about recording music, I'll take the former, thank you very much. So, this last week was booked solid - again.  We saw a few regulars come in and a few new on...

Okay... I'm getting like crazy frustrated here... You know all those wonderful firefox extensions which allow web developers like me to work even faster and more efficiently?  Well...  They must all hate me. I've heard incredible things about Firebug and Y-Slow as far as web development tools go, but can I use them? Apparently no...

The studio walls are up!  ... and they are ... HUGE!  Honestly the level of excitement I have for this studio build is right up there with the excitement of my marriage and the births of my children.  I can't believe this is actually happening! Anyway.... I'll be posting more random updates on Facebook (which will link to publi...

All I gotta say is, I'm glad I had a lot of clothes on this morning. Yes, it was friggin' cold outside, but that was only a small nuisance. The real reason I'm glad I had many layers on was due to the large amount of crap I shot in my drawers when I checked the main server log files this morning. Around 9:30, the floor admin came to me saying he...

Two things for tonight's study: I believe the purpose of this chapter is the same as chapter 6:  To give purpose behind the Book of Mormon.  The things Nephi is writing are things of God - things pertaining to the ministry of the people in those days. I love verse 5.  It reminds me of when Adam was commanded to build an alter and...

In the beginning of this chapter, I didn't realize that the book to which the verses were referring was the Book of Mormon. I guess this chapter answers the question, "What is in the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon?".  The answer is quite simply found in verse 10:  "...for behold, they reveal all things from the foun...

This is my new poem, I believe it or not was really trying to write a love poem. But I guess because something happend and I got upset just before writting, this what I got. So, yeah. Take a look at " Braking me" Feel free to tell me your thoughts please.   - - - Braking me - - - No longer your here, But my scars never leave. W...

Man...  I can only imagine what Ammon's joy truly felt like.  After reading D&C 18:15-16, I begin to see why Ammon fainted due to overwhelming joy so many times throughout his mission.  Dedicating a full chapter to nothing but the rejoicing of Ammon seems perfectly reasonable. I always thought his brothers were kind of rude to ...

Stupid Kingmen.  Nothing like having your own people fight against you in the middle of a war.  One thing I noticed this time, which I had forgotten, is how Moroni followed the correct line of authority in order to do what he had to do with the kingmen.  He asked Pahoran for the right to take care of them, and Pahoran gave it to him....

I just thought I'd let ya'll know that I got a new haircut a couple of days ago.  I think its swell. I guess this just goes to show that I'm not entirely sane... pretty much... ever. The mohawk has quite a story which I might as well divulge right about now. It all happened about 7 years ago, when my brothers all got together for some event...

We just got back from a wonderful dinner at The Old Fisherman's Grotto on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey California. The halibut was quite wonderful, but not nearly as good as the side-dish of clam chowder I got.  It really was fantastic. If you're ever in Monterey, CA, you simply have to get a bowl of that chowder.  It's quite amazing....

People connect on different levels in this life, and I just had an experience of supreme connection on the musical level.  I felt like I was experiencing something somewhat supreme...  But I'll talk about that later. Yesterday was the LDS Music Fest 2005, and EnZign was lucky enough to be part of it again.  It was such a s...

I had forgotten that in this chapter, Nephi sees the Lord descend from heaven to the people who would be born from Nephi. I put myself in his situation, and quite honestly , I have no idea how I would react.  It would be so supremely surreal - seeing your kids' kids' kids' kids, and then seeing the Savior of the world show himself unto them....

Man alive.... I don't deal well with politics in the workplace AT ALL. Why in the world aren't we using gentoo? Who knows. Probably because of the "support" that we don't get because we have PHP 5 installed on a SLES9 server. augh..... Can I just tell you how much I hate it when people make snide remarks about something the know absolutely not...

I'm not entirely sure about the east coast or any other coast, but the clam chowder from the west coast at the Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey California is ....  is....  well...  it's clam chowder the way it was meant to be. Today was a day full of driving in rush-hour-esque conditions, getting the hotel arranged at Monterey, CA. ...

It's not too often you read stories about a business who knowingly chooses gentoo as their Linux distribution of choice;  this is why I liked this story so much. Everything they say about gentoo (both good and bad) I believe is right on the money. This company chose gentoo to run their main servers for an email marketing company, and haven...

Today was a good day.  I didn't get enough sleep, so after our work lunch party, which enabled us to eat large amounts of Korean food (seasoned beef 'n' stuff wrapped in lettuce was good, but I didn't like the "kimchi" which was nothing more than hot and spicy rotten cabbage), I felt a bit tired...  Too tired to work. So, I wen...

I wish I could describe to you how much gratefulness is in my heart for whoever is in the skies who loves me. The prophets say He is Jesus Christ - and I believe them. This being up there loves me more than I can possibly comprehend. There is no way that words can describe to you, whoever you are, how much I want to learn to love Him. One thi...

Wow....  Today has been crazy. I woke up around 2:30am this morning, put the suitcases in the van, woke the kids up (actually, Luci was already awake and excited to be going to "Shugee's House"), put them in the van, said a quick prayer for safety and health, and we were off! I'm tellin' ya...  If you have kids and a 10-hour...
