Lucid 8 / Jhonny K
Being an audio engineer full-time gives me the opportunity to meet a lot of musicians, and go through a lot of music.  Most of the music being recorded here is done by people who want to get a recording of a song or two that they want to post for their friends on social media sites, and that is great by me.  The more good music out for people to listen to, the better, says I!

While a good share of the music fits into that category, every once in a while I meet musicians who inspire me, who push me, who challenge me to go out of my comfort zone to see what can really be done with their music.  Music that is creatively inspirational, and has been honed and molded into the best it can possibly be.  When musicians of this sort knock on the studio doors, it's an honor to work with them, and I push myself to match the music.

Lately I've had more bands of this caliber come to me to help produce and engineer their masterpieces, and it's been very rewarding.

One such band is Lucid 8

I had the privilege of working with them on their self-titled debut EP about 2 years ago.  They since had one other release, called American Eyesore, and after that, they came back to Art City Sound to produce their next album, and although it's not released yet, the tracks I've heard tell tales of something amazing happening with this music.  I'll definitely be looking forward to see how this next project of theirs comes about.  As soon as I have a release date, I'll let ya know.  If you like alternative rock, you'll definitely want to hear this one.

Another person with whom I've had the pleasure of working calls himself Jhonny K, and could be the most self-less artist I've known.  Aside from being an all-around great guy, this dude can rock, and he proves it.  He gigs all over Utah, and is currently spear-heading a project called ARISE, which includes a series of concerts which will be played all over the country in high-schools and junior high's promoting suicide prevention through music.  I recommend you click this link and listen to What Are You Waiting For or Blue Skies.  You will rock out.  I promise.

Then there's this band that calls itself Tiny Boats.  I've been working with them for the past year on their debut album, and it's set to be released later this month.  Jesse Crowley is an amzing songwriter, and I've had the pleasure of working with him for the past 5 years on several bands and albums.  This album is sure to turn some heads...

Although there are quite a few more bands which fall in this category the last one I'll mention today is a band called "Johanna Johanna" (c'mon, guys!  Where's your website??).  This band came to me from Salt Lake City with 4 songs to be recorded, and the process has been awesome.  I'm not entirely sure when they plan on releasing their songs into the wild, but once they do, I'd recommend giving them a listen.  I suspect the songs will be released before the year's end.  I also hear they're rustling up as many gigs in the Salt Lake area as they can, so keep an eye out for Johanna Johanna.

Anyway... That's about it for the blog now, but thank you for reading, and if you need help with any of your songs, give me a call and I'll see how Art City Sound can make your songs come to life.
