Proper Spelling of "Ridiculous"
Okay...  I rarely ....  well..  I never have posted something like this before in my blog, but this is getting RIDICULOUS.  This is not getting REDICULOUS.  It is getting R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S

It seems like when ever I see that word spelled anywhere on the Internet, it's spelled consistently wrong, and I can't for the life of me figure out why, and it's beginning to grate on my nerves.

So... Just to set the record straight, the word ridiculous is spelled as such:

R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S

...and there ya have it!  Just in case you were wondering how to spell ridiculous, it's spelled "ridiculous".
Are we good now?

Yes, but can you spell privilege?  I cannot.  I had to look it up to spell it correctly here.  I never learned to spell it because, as a nurse, I can just abbreviate it.  Bath room privileges=BRP.

The doctors just abbreviate it too.  Nobody writes it out.  Too hard to spell.  Ridiculous!!

Hannah has started to use this word if she doesn't want to do something.  She says, "This is ridiculous!"  She's 3.

P.S.  I actually left this comment yesterday but don't think I saved it!!

Thank you for this post. I have always spelled it ridiculous (correctly) but I see it spelled wrong all the time and began to question myself. That is why I googled how to spell it, and it led me here. So I am glad to know that not only was I right but that it bothers other people as well. I think most people have a common word that for some reason they are just unable to spell correctly. My personal word is probably, which I often spell probley, even though if I think about it I know is wrong. It just comes out that way if I don't pay attention to it. Although I think there is a overall decline in spelling in our society due to spell check, and this new "typing langauge' used for texting and social media. Sorry if I have taken a simple post and turned it into a personal rant about how as technology advances our ability to do simple tasks without the assistance of technology is rapidly declining. I fear what will happen over the next few generations. Pens and paper will be as much of a relic as the rotary phone if we are not careful. Thank you for your time and allowing me to vent. I hope you all have a great day.

I don't see myself as a linguistic use nazi or any such thing, however when individuals make blunders with things taught in second grade or something then it's sort of strange. For instance, your/you're is presumably the most well-known, and obviously then/than, there/they're/their. Furthermore, how troublesome is it to spell-check your content before submitting? Christ, most programs even have fabricated in spell-checks individuals still can't be troubled.

Part of the issue is because of innovation. A great many people use word processors and generally, that is great. Be that as it may, individuals erroneously depend upon spell check. Spell check is not fool verification as you can effectively incorrectly spell the wrong word. Ex: I am two tired. If it's not too much trouble put the exhausted their. write my essay. These mix-ups will be not be distinguished. Individuals additionally message and in the event that it sounds alright, it must be alright.

I think You have everything spelled effectively in your inquiry and in your announcement. Do you have a specific word you need the spelling of? "Color" is the "right spelling" in the USA, yet is "adequate" in UK and Canada and some different ranges. "Colour" is the "right spelling" in Canada, UK yet is "acceptable" in the USA.
