It does NOT seem to work with windows 98 version 2 full install "for PC's without windows" :*(

 worked!! running windows 98 SE on mac OS X!

it worked but now I have the blue screen of death. So I don't know if that was what I was supposed to get but im thinking not. Any way if you have any suggestions please let me know

Did anyone try updates or security patches off of MS website ? The install key worked for me so far. I have unofficial updates and patches but need IE 6,and others.

This worked, but note, it ONLY works for the 1st edition of Win98...

I am fixing a PC for a friend, and AFTER this is complete, I have a Win98 SE disk with it's own product key for the upgrade, becuase I would not just us 98 by itself without having the SE Edition (cause that's all this pc can handle), but it only came with 98, but Win98 SE was one of MS's best working OS's that had the least amound of issues.

So just note, it works, but ONLY on the Win98 1st Edition.

Yup, now y'all have a key, released my Microsoft, expressly for the purpose of tracking people who are:

a) too cheap to actually buy a copy, or

b) foolish enough to assume that you're all in the clear now microsoft has discontinued support for Win'98.

Use your collective heads and hit eBay for a legit copy, people!

Buying Windows 98 CDs w/keys is a violation of the M$ Copyright.  The ebay copies are probably pirate editions anyway.  Also M$ did release the above generic code hoping that you would upgrade to XP or Vista...  

to explain the above post.  You could only buy a ligitimate full copy of 98, 2nd etc if you were buying a new computer or were a computer reseller. That is in the EULA .

Love ya! this worked 100% for Windows 98 Second Edition for PC's without Windows. The system accepted it and started to function normally, thank you so much for this code. With this and some super scripting and programming, this PC will soon be ready to run as a small MMORPG game server!

The CD Key does not work on W98 SE UPGRADE CD, but I found one that worked for me, I have a genuine U/G CD, dated 0499 p/n X04-12707.  The key that worked is...

Thanks.  It worked fine for me.  My windows xp kept giving me an error as I was trying to install it with the disc and since i have a 98 disc but no key, i figured i would give this a try.  Sure enough it worked.

I need to re kindle TEXTRA a great label  word processor. For some reason my win 98 disc was OK which I purchased some years ago, but the code on the envelope did not. Call MS and was told that they don't support MS 98 any more. wondered on the internet and came up with your website.

Didn't work. None of the 98 keys I found anywhere work. I think I have a bad disk.
